The school contains:

– Kindergarten
– One-year preschool
– Four-year elementary school (Grundschule)
– Eight-year secondary school (Hauptschule, Realschule and Gymnasium)

The German international School in Shanghai was founded in 1995 and is the largest international school for German children outside Germany. A lot of German multinational companies have been established in Shanghai during the last 20 years, which makes this school one of the largest international schools in China.

And are you worried that your children will be forced together with only German friends while being abroad? Don´t be.

The German School in Shanghai built together with the French School of Shanghai a common campus called ”EuroCampus” for their students in 2005. German and French children do still have separated classrooms, but share canteen and sports facilities.

Academics are based on education in Germany, finishing with the Abitur.
